Posted on March 25, 2024March 20, 2024 by andrew

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Hounslow Methodist Church had a thriving live music project called Cafe Arts, inviting small professional and semi-professional Christian artists from around the country to perform in a series of concerts each year. This had to stop during the pandemic and since then we have only had a few concerts by the…

Posted on March 19, 2024 by andrew

For many years, the school’s PTA has run a bingo night for the children, which always goes well. This year, however, we have retired the software that they used to use to track the numbers as they were called. I put together a simple script to do a similar job, as most of the app…

Review: Tweek

Posted on January 17, 2024January 17, 2024 by andrew

Todo list apps are a source of frustration to me; there are so many beautiful and amazingly designed apps out there, but they often overcomplicate things and make a simple list harder than it needs to be. A few years ago, I started using Tweek (https://tweek.so/) to keep track of jobs that need doing at…

Just before Christmas, I treated myself to a camera upgrade. It has been years (the last photos seem to be in 2015!) since I have had a ‘proper’ camera, using my phone and, if needed, borrowing one instead, so it has been a lot of fun getting used to this type of photography again. Between…

As the year is coming to a close and following up on my other two posts from 2022 and 2023, here are some of my favourite title slides I designed this year. This year, I also designed and introduced a series of icons to signify the type of service, and later in the year, we…

2023 Highlights – Gaming

Posted on December 13, 2023April 24, 2024 by andrew

This year has been an unusual year for games. I have had anywhere near as much time to play as in the past. A lot of the time I have had has been multiplayer gaming with my brother and cousin. The games I have chosen this year have been quite chilled, which has been a…

Christmas with the Bell Road Band II

Posted on December 11, 2023December 11, 2023 by andrew

Following on from a successful Christmas concert last year the church band decided it would be fun to go again. This year the band picked some of their favourites from the last year and then added in some new ideas. Songs ranged from classic Christmas carols such as “O come all ye Faithful” and “Hark…

About Me

Hello! My name is Andrew, and this is my little corner of the internet. Most of the week, I am an IT Technician in a primary school, which is an extremely varied and unpredictable job! Outside of that, I am a scout leader, youth leader, digital designer and do lighting and sound for theatre.

Social & Web

I quite like Instagram, if you avoid most of the reels, plus its where many of my friends are. I will only accept a follow request from you if I know you though! If I don't know you, follow me on Mastodon!

@flickr
I am back to using flicker now I am taking more photos. You can find some of my favourite shots here.

AI Statement

With the increase in AI use and the potential trust issues that arise from it, it believe people and organisations should be up front about its use. Consider adding an AI statement to your site.

I use AI to assist in spelling and grammar checking, writing code and dealing with errors if I am unable to work it out myself. I will occasionally use AI image generation if I cannot find or create a suitable image, I will always mark it as such. I do not use AI for video, audio or content generation. I do not use AI for any task that I would normally pay someone for. Any resources created with the use of AI (with the exception of spell checking) are available free of charge.

I have heard all the arguments for or against AI, and reached a opinion I am comfortable with, please don't contact me with your unsolicited opinion.
