Good Things – April 2024

Posted on April 30, 2024May 7, 2024 by andrew
  • Had a nice birthday meal at the Jolly Postie in Royston for my brother’s Birthday. Followed by a mini-pub crawl to the King James and The Old Bull Inn (several people were working the next day!)
  • Port and Cheese evening with friends and family.
  • Visited the Lake District for a week, highlights included:
    • Visited Lowther Castle and Gardens; we visited in the summer since it was a portacabin and required guided tours. Was nice to visit at another time of year.
    • Hike around Dodd Wood and White Stones
    • A trip to Whitehaven to visit the Rum Story and Beacon Museum, plus a very tasty lunch at Anna’s Bar and Kitchen.
    • A lovely meal at the Horse and Farrier for Dad’s birthday. Portions were plentiful.
  • Attended and Supported indoor cub camp at Ferny Crofts. The weather was great when we visited Hurst Castle and the Beach.
  • Read “The Evening and the Morning” by Ken Follett, a gripping read in the Kingsbridge series.
  • I played Botany, a board game I kickstarted some time ago, and had a good time. I would highly recommend it, lots of flavour, although can run a little long.
  • I really enjoyed this year’s Pilgrimage Series on the BBC; the pilgrims seemed much more open and honest, probably the best series since the first.
  • Built a monkey bridge in school for a science day about bridges.
  • Young people returned to CEDARS youth club for the first time in a while.
  • Cooked for the Scouts for their camp at the Docklands Scout Project watersports weekend.
